@ben_hr@outside.ofa.dog @ben_hr@old.mermaid.town i may be ready to read them all again
@crumbleneedy@aus.social @ben_hr@old.mermaid.town They were amongst my most-loved books as a young adult (in the not-a-teenager sense, not the current book marketing one) but they're much more flawed that I recalled. I think my tastes are now more literary, but I've also read a lot of dumb shit over the years so I may also be less tolerant? 🤷🏽♂️
@ben_hr@outside.ofa.dog @ben_hr@old.mermaid.town i was in my 40s i think when i started them - finished probably late 40s (i'm a slow reader) so not that long ago, and my recollection is that the writing was very evocative and stylish while avoiding the cringe inducing kinds of humor and sex scenes that sci fi seems rife with. and the ideas were pretty absorbing. i can't think of many books i'd want to re-read but they're candidates.
