I just finished chapter 1, and I already really like this. It immediately gets into why separating humans from the "wild" is illogical, and how that kind of puritanical belief has been used to justify genocide too.

@jam@bookrastinating.com omg I missed this notif!
it was Soooo 5 stars for me. not really anything mindblowing, nor did it give me brainrot, but I loved it for being such a cozy, comforting read. I love how all the characters got to develop and grow with the bookshop! I love how all of them are so different, in terms of background, personality, and age, but they all play a part in making their space Work. I love that they all had different struggles. Idk. I got to relate to them about a lot of different things.
One of my favorite parts was that letter Yeongju writes Minjun about how she wants the bookshop to last longer and how important it is that she can pay him well. Smthn about how very anti-capitalist this book is, while also acknowleding that the bookshop exists in a capitalist society, and that getting compensated for his labor is a vital part of the relationships theyre nurturing,, aaaa.
I wish my friends read it, in the same way I wish I was around to give them hugs, yknow?
Hbu!! what are your thoughts?

The writing isn't for me. This book is definitely horrific though. It was kind of a lot to read, and I don't think this was for me. It comes with a content warning, and it definitely should.
