I chose this book because of its title, as I'm an avid user of Obsidian Notes & Obsidian refers to creating your second brain. Knowing that Forte wasn't discussing Obsidian as such, I was hoping to get some valuable ideas to apply to note-taking. Overall I was disappointed. But on the positive side, I did finish the book as much as I was tempted to call it quits.

For years I carried around a mobile Little Free Library when RVing. A lot of interesting books passed through the library & I got to meet some intriguing folks. Fun times!
I like to read, but sometimes, my to-read list looks impossible. Most of my books come from the library & many times, I have multiple books on hold. The problem is when several become available simultaneously — suddenly, I have lots of reading in store.

Worth the Read
4 stars
For me, this wasn't a fast-moving book, but I did enjoy it. I felt that the extensive details of Simard’s experiments in various forest plots were more technical than I cared for, but I am sure it would appeal to others. Her personal story, interwoven with her scientific work, made for a good reading. Simard's discoveries of the communication process with trees and plant species were fascinating. My main problem with the book was our library loan policies. Since there was a long waitlist for the book, it could be checked out for only two weeks, and if you wanted to renew it, you had to get back on the waitlist (generally six weeks plus). I had to go through several cycles.
