Back into a Rebus, I haven't read any for a while and stumbled on this one somewhere. I always enjoy them, perhaps this one more because I haven't read any for a while - although I did feel I needed to keep a list of all the characters on a bit of paper for reference

I found one of Morton's other books a few years ago and found them enjoyable, modern enough in style to be readable, but far enough in the past to be very much of another era. A $2.50 op-shop find, I think I learnt more Roman and Christian history from reading this than from years at school. Surprisingly more history than travel

The entire series is an enjoyable easy read, I enjoyed them decades ago when they first came out, so when I stumbled on this one for 50c in an op-shop I couldn't resist. A quick and fun three short stories

Not really a big fan of Crichton's work, but I've been meaning to read this ever since I saw the movie decades ago. Interesting to note that I could not separate my reading of it from hearing and picturing Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough's characters in my head, but none of the others. The backward looking ineptness of the English, the forward looking industriousness of the Chinese. Unlikable characters, but seems to sum up the fading of Empire and handover of Hong Kong

I found it different to the first two, which I had to re-read as its been so many years since I read them. Finally done, interesting enough, I did find it a little predictable in places

A quick re-read so now I can restart number three and figure out what is going on -- had to revisit them one after I got ten pages into the third book for the first time and had no idea what was happening

Read this one and the sequel nine years ago, then finally picked up a copy of the third and started it recently ... but found I wanted to re-read the first two

What can I say, I mostly knew what was about to happen, but still gripping enough as i went through

Absolutely loved it, just refreshingly different and gripping. Another one that's been in the "to do" pile for far too long. It helped that it brought back memories of a month or two in Jo'burg

Working my way through my summer reading and the endless pile of books. Near future SF that I found more enjoyable and gripping than some of his other works, once a few suspensions of disbelief were made

read this over 25 years ago before travelling to Spain, then years later stumbled on a copy of a 2 volume edition in a 2nd shop. Been sitting on the shelf for years, decades... Holds up well, I love the way Michener describes his surrounds, even if it was from another thirty years earlier. Some things change enormously, some won't

I guess I need to read volume 2 now
