Last one for me. See previous comment. It is getting better in the "gimmicks" department, but not enough for me to continue with the series. Patterson is very prolific tho, so might give a try to some of his other series (Alex, etc). It's not bad, just what is called in French de la littérature de gare, ie something you buy to have soemthing to read on the train, and then discard it. This fits admirably the bill for any longish trip. Passes the time without racking your brain, and can safely forgotten the minute you step off the train, boat, plane or whatever,

Excellent - nice change from the previous. still some gimmicks but much less, and many twists. The best of the series so far. Ho, and if you wonder why I keep on reading those when obviously I don't like them that much, it's just that the action is set in the SF bay area. So reading is an opportunity to remember what the place looks like and the fun time I had there :-)
