SPACE THRILLER WITH GAYS AHHHHH
This book was such an emotional rollercoaster. It's twisty, it's emotional, it's creepy and mysterious, it's got action and love and hope and despair. I recommend knowing as little as possible going in so I won't be able to say much in this review but holy shit read this please!!!
It's a real testament to this book that it took so many sci-fi tropes (especially sci-fi horror/thriller tropes) I usually despise and made me love how they were done here. I also agree that this doesn't read like YA, but I think some people sound really anti-YA when they say that. I love YA! but I agree that aside from having 17 year old main characters (that you can easily read as being in their 20's and would make more sense) this would be more at home with an adult crowd likes fans of Becky Chambers or other more speculative leaning works. It's not really much of a 'genre' read and I think that's it's strength.
