This is 5 stars for being solid, escapist, post apocalyptic, superhero fiction. From a strictly literary sense, its a 3.5. The protagonist is complex, foul mouthed, often works against himself.... and is a typical teenager, in other words. I reread this book on a regular basis as a comfort read.

I've read this once, and listened to the audio version twice. It's a great book about the various animals that live in our homes (house spiders, camel crickets, roaches, etc) or our bodies (bacteria). And about how little is known about both...
Robert spent over 20 years observing the baboon troops of Africa, and chronicled the rise and fall of many individual members. Over that time he learned a lot about human behavior. Plus gives great insight into how field life often works.

I've read this book 2 or 3 times, and listened to the Audio book at least twice. It's a great book about helping island ecosystems recover. Mostly from Rats, but there is a fair bit of information on feral cats as well (which are almost as destructive as Rats). It gives a good overview of how to get introduced species off an island, once they are established. Methodology has to adapt to species (Rats are adaptable), weather, cost, acceptable losses among non target species (You'll never achieve perfection) and any other factor that comes up. Great book!
It's not my favorite T. Kingfisher book, but it one that I'm very fond of. And I love the curse child - that one I use in my TTRPG games.
