I'm flipping between 4 and 4.5 tbh
Dear ACSDAL,
It's not you, it's me. I just don't feel that spark. You're so beautifully written and thoughtfully considered, and you're going to make another reader so happy, but I can't give you what you deserve. I truly wish you all the best and I hope we can stay friends (i.e. I'll try to read your sequels).
Yours sincerely,

I wanted to love this book so badly! And, like, it was well-written and the characters were complex and everything was well thought out and it did so many things I usually like. For example, love me a good multi-POV book, I also love fairytale stuff, high fantasy, low romance (? is that a thing? i'm inventing it as a thing now ok). So I cannot for the life of me work out why I didn't LOVE this. I liked it and …

I am not without my complaints, but most of them feel kinda pointless in the scheme of things. The villain was a little over the top, but whatever, it isn't really about her. And I personally did not enjoy some of the political stuff (which is weird because usually that's my favourite part of these kinds of books). But none of that super impacted my overall reading experience so still super weird that I couldn't really enjoy this book :/
