This book is different than the first. It goes into every character (from their point of view) and fills out the entire conceit of the first book. It gives a look into how the events hit the society in general also. It is thoughtful and I enjoyed it.
I've sat on this book (and this series as a whole) for a little bit now, and I stick with my ratings, I think. The writing is pretty dang good - fast paced, fun to read, easy to binge - and the characters are...pretty good. It was nice to meet Carl, and it was certainly interesting getting to meet Peter. Still, though, the characters suffered a little from a lack of depth, or at least some shallowness, though I was pleased to see that April was less Just Plain Quippy in this book.
I enjoy Green as a creator, and I'm happy to see that he's getting more stuff out there, and seems to be growing as a writer. Looking forward to more of his work.
Updating with an actual review.
