A Great Tour Through Tech Platform History

This is a great treatise on tech platform power and regulation, reviewing and analyzing the last ~60 years of this space from historical and legal perspectives. Wu clearly lays out the issues with platform power, how and why it develops, and the role of government policy in shaping that power. There's not a ton of quantitative backing here, but if you're already familiar with the literature that would be mostly review anyway. A bigger issue for me was the kid gloves with which Wu treats certain actors in the space and his papering over of deep issues with the generative AI and crypto industries. Overall, however, those are relatively minor quibbles with what is undeniably an important book for the current moment. Highly recommend
