Considered the most important work of modern Iranian literature, The Blind Owl is a haunting tale of loss and spiritual degradation. Replete with potent symbolism and terrifying surrealistic imagery, Sadegh Hedayat's masterpiece details a young man's despair after losing a mysterious lover. And as the author gradually drifts into frenzy and madness, the reader becomes caught in the sandstorm of Hedayat's bleak vision of the human condition.

Hard to Follow but Oddly Compelling

I struggled with this book. I am still not sure what happened. When I first finished it , I didn't think I liked it; however, I find myself continuing to think about the book. I started reading some lit analysis of the book and that has made it more and more interesting and added some shape to what I read. I would recommend reading this book but also finding some discussions about what the book is about and giving those a read to get a full experience.
