Jane Lugea

Dr Jane Lugea is Senior Lecturer in English Language at Queen's University Belfast. She is interested in language use and linguistic creativity. As Principal Investigator on the AHRC-funded 'Dementia in the minds of characters and readers project', she led an interdisciplinary team exploring how dementia is represented in the minds of fictional characters, and how readers respond to them. This project revealed the capacity for fictional representations of dementia to increase awareness and understanding towards lived experiences of the condition. Jane is author of World Building in Spanish and English Spoken Narratives (Bloomsbury, 2016) and co-author of Stylistics: Text, Cognition and Corpus (Palgrave Macmillan, forthcoming).
