The bean trees

Growing up in a poor, rural Kentucky home, young Taylor Greer dreams of a better life. Heading out west with a beat-up car, Taylor finds herself caring for an abandoned Cherokee infant, who she names Turtle. Settling in Arizona, Taylor raises Turtle as her own and eventually aids a couple of Guatemalan immigrants.
