I’ve read a lot of horror this year (it’s been that kind of year) and nothing was as disturbing as this resonant psychological piece about violence, codependency, and what’s sitting just under the skin of people who look to history with yearning. It probably needs more trigger warnings, too. Realistic and upsetting.
