The world from the eyes of something else

I wanted to love this book. The idea is wonderful – Rachel Carson writes the story of birds on the shore from their own point of view. They are characters, fleshed out like those in a novel, and written with dreams and motivations and emotions. They are brought to life by her keen writing and sense of wonder. However, for me the drama was missing and the story just didn't quite hold enough for the long length. The result is an experimental book that I just couldn't gel with, but someone else might love.
